Members of the 112th United States Congress

The 112th United States Congress consists of 541 elected officials from 50 states, five territories, and the District of Columbia. It is the federal legislature of the United States of America, continuing an unbroken chain dating back to the 1st Congress in 1789.

The Senate has 100 members; the House of Representatives has 435 members and six non-voting delegates.

Demographics

In the senate there were 17 women, the same number as in the previous congress, although some of the women were newly elected. There were 76 women in the house.[1]

Elections

Elections for all House seats and 37 Senate seats were held on November 2, 2010 across the country. The Republican Party regained the majority in the House of Representatives.
